Intervision Expert, the Opticians Born from Specsavers in Spain

Many people have been asking what happened to the Specsavers opticians in Spain when the brand decided to close here. The answer is simple: the former Specsavers opticians in Spain are now Intervision Expert. When Specsavers stopped operating in Spain on 1 January 2025, the directors of its stores founded Intervision Expert to keep looking after their customers with the same team, in the same premises and with the same optical and hearing care. Intervision Expert has opticians in Benidorm, Calpe, Guardamar del Segura, La Zenia, Torrevieja, Godella and Fuengirola, which also serves former customers of Specsavers Marbella.

What is Intervision Expert?

Intervision Expert is the network of opticians and hearing centres that grew out of Specsavers in Spain. The directors of the former Specsavers franchise stores founded Intervision Expert on 1 January 2025 (The Leader, Modaengafas.com).

Intervision Expert keeps the same optometrists and audiologists, the same way of working and the personal service in English and Spanish that Specsavers customers already knew. Intervision Expert is an independent company and is not part of the Specsavers group.

Why did Specsavers close in Spain?

Specsavers closed in Spain on 1 January 2025 and pulled out of Belgium at the same time. The reasons included logistical difficulties caused by Brexit, according to Economía 3. Specsavers is a British optical group that supplied its Spanish stores from the UK.

Specsavers arrived in Spain in April 2006, opening its first store in Jávea. For almost 19 years it was the go-to optician for thousands of British and Northern European residents on the Costa Blanca and the Costa del Sol. Today the specsavers.es website only shows a notice: «Specsavers no longer operates in Spain».

Specsavers Marbella: where to go now

The Specsavers optician in Marbella, on Avenida Ricardo Soriano, has closed. Former Specsavers Marbella customers are now looked after by Intervision Expert Fuengirola, at Avenida Ramón y Cajal, 6. Intervision Expert Fuengirola provides optical and hearing care for the whole western Costa del Sol: Marbella, Mijas, Benalmádena and the surrounding area.

Did all Specsavers stores become Intervision Expert?

Almost all of them. The Specsavers opticians in Benidorm, Calpe, Guardamar del Segura, La Zenia, Torrevieja, Godella and Fuengirola are now Intervision Expert. The Marbella store closed, and Fuengirola now serves its customers. The exception is Specsavers Jávea, which became Seepoint, a different brand, on 1 May 2025 (Jávea.com).

I was a Specsavers customer: what changes at Intervision Expert?

For former Specsavers customers, only the name and the sign change at Intervision Expert. Everything else stays the same:

• The same store: each Intervision Expert is where the Specsavers optician used to be.
• The same team: the optometrists and audiologists who already looked after you.
• Service in English and Spanish, just like at Specsavers.
• The 2 for 1 glasses offer that Specsavers customers already knew (Economía 3).

Optical and hearing services at Intervision Expert

Intervision Expert offers the same services as the Specsavers opticians, and a few more:

• Eye tests and prescription checks.
• Prescription glasses and sunglasses from brands such as Lacoste, Karl Lagerfeld, Nike, DKNY, Calvin Klein, Tous, TitanFlex and Ray-Ban Meta.
• Varifocal lenses by Pentax.
• Contact lenses and myopia control for children with MiYOSMART lenses and MiSight contact lenses.
• Hearing care: hearing tests, hearing aid fitting and Nuance Audio hearing glasses.
